[Evolution] Evolution slow to send new message

I have the very same OS/Evo versions, but only a 800MHz Duron (kind of
My messages go out pretty fast.
But I know evo checks the addresses and if the local address is
incorrect, it will not send it. ---> This makes me believe that your
smtp server may be slow?
Is it any faster when using Mozilla mail? That program seems to work
Also, are you using IMAP and your sent, etc folders are on the server?

This is another period of time when Evolution freezes for a few seconds,
which is annoying if I'm trying to do something like delete the message
or drag it to a local folder. By contrast, when the status bar says
"retrieving messages..." (or is it "fetching messages...") this does not
block other activity.

connecting to the smtp server and sending the message? the "Saving

I click the Send button until it appears in my Outbox (The word Outbox
goes bold and a (1) appears next to it). During this time, the status
bar at the bottom of the window says something like "Saving message to
folder...". After that it leaves my outbox quickly.

All my folders, settings, home directory, etc. are on fast local disk, I
have 512 MB RAM, etc. Spellcheck is disabled. It always behaves like
this when I send messages, and it happens even if I have only 1 or 2
addresses in the "To:" list.

Is this to be expected, or is there something wrong?
What's it doing that takes so long?
