Actually Chuck, it does seem to be working here.  The "dotted box" that
appears when you enter Caret Mode remains in the mail preview pane even
after turning the mode off.  But the keyboard does seem to return to its
former function.

My mistake (though it's visually confusing).

That said, pressing F7 caused Evo to segfault once when the cursor focus
was on your email address.  Doesn't happen now.  *shrug*
