Re: [Evolution] newbie question: newsfeed does not work in evolution 1.4

(evolution-1.4:3712):
evolution-executive-summary-WARNING **:
Message failed: 3 Unable to resolve proxy hostname

(evolution starts - of course - anyway, and works as
it should, except for the newsfeed).

The proxy I use - set with gnome-network-preferences -
works fine with galeon. The proxy's hostname
is as follows (probably not much help, though):
        http://sww.stusta.mhn.de/proxy.pac

Soup doesn't support autoconfiguring proxies. (It requires javascript,
so there's no way it could really.) It sounds like evo is misreading the
proxy configuration though, and thinking the URL is a hostname, and
giving you an error because there's no host named
"http://sww.stusta.mhn.de/proxy.pac";

You could try doing "manual configuration" in gnome-network-preferences
and using sww.stusta.mhn.de as the hostname and 8888 for the port. If
that doesn't work, you could try quitting galeon, running "netstat
--inet", then starting galeon again, going to advogato or whatever, and
then running "netstat --inet" again. Hopefully, there'll be a single new
connection, and that will be to the proxy server, and you can see what
host and port it is.

Unfortunately, there's not really any way to configure an automatic
proxy for galeon and a static proxy for everything else.
