This seems quite intuitive to folks who maintain many tasks on a
schedule.
In our workgroup envrionment we've modified our calendaring system to
place "task notes" on the calendar, generally due dates/times. When a
user clicks on this task note in the calendar, the app brings up the
task, instead of a calendar event (allowing the user to modify the
task). Overall, this streamlines our daily scheduling efforts to take
our tasks into consideration.
I think a much better and simpler solution would be to have alarms also
for tasks. Then, you won't need to add the due dates to the calendar,
just setup alarms for it.
Although right now I don't recall if, as per RFC2445, tasks are allowed
to have alarms.
As far as I know, it does so already. Set Start and Due Time, make
yourself the ATTENDEE, accept the task in the email.
Check your tasks.ics, and it has an VAlARM in there 15 min before the
Start time.
Ok it's kind of awkward to get the alarm in, but it works and shows the
alarm.
Maybe the alarm should go of before the Due date/time and should be
changeable?
Have fun,
Ronald
Are there any plans to integrate the tasks with the calendar along these
lines? Or if not, can I make this a feature request? ;) (Enabling
something like this should be user optional of course.)
add a bug to bugzilla as a feature request, and it eventually will get done.
cheers
