No, as I discovered later, it wasn't adding /lib and /usr/lib to
ld.so.conf that fixed it, it was just running ldconfig that did the
trick.  I made a false assumption based on the results.

Anyway 1.2.3 is out and it seems to have fixed some memory leaks, so I'm
not quite as hungry for an upgrade at the moment =)
