I have the font set to Courier and it still doesn't work.

Arial is a proportionally spaced font. Plain text is standardly set in a
monospace font, like Courier, Luxi Mono, or Vera Sans Mono. If you set
your Terminal font to one of those, either in Evolution itself, or in
