Re: [Evolution] 1.4: Browser to use for http URL in Mails?

Now nothing happens: I get this error in the console:
(evolution:8603): evolution-mail-WARNING **: gnome_url_show: The default
action does not support this protocol.
and then sometimes Evo just hangs there, sometimes Evo returns and
issues 2 more messages:

Not sure, but IIRC another guy reported 'hangs' -- just because he had a
wrong (nonexistent) default browser.

any ideas what might be wrong?

If you have Mozilla installed, please try the following: (if not, try to
adjust)

launch 'gnome-control-center',
goto: Advanced > Preferred Applications > Web Browser
set 'Custom Web Browser' Command to: gnome-moz-remote --newwin "%s"

This will present you every link (clicked in a Gnome 2 app) in a new
mozilla window. If you prefer tabs (instead of new windows) like me,
change it similar like that:

set 'Custom Web Browser' Command to: mozilla-remote.sh "%s"

Have the attached script in your path (or change the command to have the
whole path) and make the script executable.

I have no longer Galeon on the system instead I use Epiphany now.
I set Epiphany as the default browser in control panel but that did
not help

Sorry, don't know about that for Epiphany. And the script is "just in
case"... ;-)

Did you mean the above steps with control panel?

Do you have any ~/.gnome/gnome-moz-remote file?
