If you compose your messages in HTML mode it won't wrap text.  If you compose it in plain text mode it will automatically wrap the text. This is normal behavior for just about any email client.

It looks like you have the right pane dragged clear over tot the left... see the handles? they're stuck together. Drag it back over and you should see the normal calendar view.
