Re: [Evolution] Evolution starts- folders present but no mails

Michael,

This is a good thing to talk about on the list.

Evolution needs to do a better job of keeping track of what display it's
process is supposed to be talking to.

The quick fix for you Michael, is to insure that no evolution processes
are running against any other displays with your username.

I often need to run a script like this as root to kill off all the
evolution processes that I was running if exiting didn't work right.

kill -9 `ps aux | grep joebaker | grep evolution | cut -c 9-14`

(where joebaker would be replaced with your username)

You may be able to run this on a lower security level box without
becoming root.

I maintain that a user should be able to have several different X
sessions opened up and have the Evolution application opened in each of
them simultaneously -- or -- there should be a way to force Evolution to
redirect it's output to the new login screen.

I hope I'm being clear here, if there are questions, please feel free to
ask for clarification...

Hi,
I have been running evolution on Mandrake and all was working well. I
recently relocated offices so I tried to connect into my old macine over a
ssh connection. This worked fine and I was able to bring up evolution across
this connection. However while all the folders are visible and correct, they
are empty and contain no emails! Any ideas what might be happening here?
Thanks.
Michael
