Hello folks,
I am not sure if this has come to your attention yet, but I came
across the following situation:
I was trying to send a message using Evolution 1.4 (RH9 - XD2) and
wanted to "bcc" somebody that was _not_ in my contacts list. Well, the
"bcc" field is greyed out so I can't include (just type it in) an
address that is not in the contacts list. Should it be this way? I
don't remember having that problem with 1.2.x. I know I can toggle the
"bcc" field in the message compose window doing "View --> Bcc Field",
but shouldn't it be that if you are in the "select address" dialog box
you could simply have the ability to type in the address for the "bcc"
field or whatever?
Any suggestions? Am I overlooking something?
Thanks,
Carlson

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to use the Sylpheed mail (MH format) with Evolution.
I've tried the sugestion on this list:
File-->Import.
This isn't for Sylpheed mail.
I've tried with Preferences, Edit Account, Receiving Mail, Type of Server,
Directorys in MH format.
But it doesn't solve the problem.
It's a bug???

Calendar - Invisible Events
When adding calendar events by either typing it directly on the time, or
creating a new event, frequently, those events will not appear in the
calendar, but do appear on my Handspring Visor after synchronizing. The
events appear recorded in the calendar because the event alarms appear
at the appropriate time, even though the event does not appear. Those
events added using Shift-Ctrl-A, are confirmed as public events. I
added several events for July 2, and eight appear in my Visor, but only
one appears on my calendar.
An item that previously appeared, disappeared after attempting and a
gpilotd synchronization crash.
GPILOTD Crash
When synchronizing with all conduits except calendar (including MAL),
the synchronization works. When synchronizing calendar alone, the items
on the desktop will transfer to the Visor, and those on the Visor do not
appear on the desktop, but the alarms for the events appear at the
appropriate time.
When synchronizing the calendar, and two or more conduits, Gpilotd
crashes. "Application 'gpilotd' (process 2111) has crashed due to a
fatal error.
(Segmentation fault)."
I filed a bug report for this issue.
Any simple suggestions to fix these two issues?
Sincerely,
Walt

Subject: [Evolution] Problems with mail status indicators
I'm seeing two problems in Evolution 1.4 with the mail status
indicators.
1) in the Folders list, the new mail indicator (bold font with the
number of unread messages in brackets) is not being updated every time
the mail is checked. This is frustrating to me because I'm using
procmail to filter my mail, and depend on the indicator to notify me
that there are new messages. Instead, I have to click on each mailbox to
force it to update the new messages. This was not a problem in Evolution
1.2.
2) In the message list pane I use the threading. The envelope icon which
indicates whether a message is read or not changes when I collapse a
thread. If all the messages in the thread are read, the icon of the
collapsed thread changes to the unread icon (closed yellow envelope). If
any of the messages in the thread are unread, the icon of the collapsed
thread changes to the read icon (open white envelope).

Subject: [Evolution] Gpilotd Crash - Zire - Evolution 1.2.4
I recently wrote about difficulties in synchronizing a Handspring Visor
on Mandrake 9.1 with Evolution 1.4. On a different computer running
Evolution 1.2.4 and Mandrake 9.1, I am having problems synchronizing a
Palm Zire. This Zire previously had no problems in synchronizing, and
is now crashing when synchronizing addresses.
If I only use the address conduit, the synchronization begins, however
it stalls after 10-11 records. Below are the two different error
messages that I am receiving. During synchronization, I receive one of
the two error messages, but not both. I am able to use pilot-xfer, and
a few addresses are pushed from the pilot to the desktop, but after 10
or 11 entries, the gpilotd fails.
Since the Zire and 1.2.4 worked so well, I believe that it is a minor
configuration issue that I have overlooked.
Sincerely,
Walt

OK I understand.
Since theres not an easy way to get it solved unless
someone make a glibc rpm updated without the bug.
What is the painless method to downgrade evolution,
without lossing any mail?
I want to use my old 1.0.8 that works fine (I suddenly
didn´t remember why I wanted to upgrade)
or whichever version that don´t get affected by the
bug.
Thanks

Jeff, about a week ago you posted a possible workaround, that at least
seemed to play more nice with buggy glibc:
Remove all unnecessary chars from /etc/hosts -- that means any comments,
blank lines and additional spaces.
Full post in archives:
http://lists.ximian.com/archives/public/evolution/2003-June/030217.html
Fernando: I dunno if that will solve your problem, but it will be worth
a try.
As this bug seems to be related to /etc/hosts (do you actually use this
local file for resolving SMTP server?) you can try removing this local
line and instead use a DNS server.

yea, I just submitted a FAQ request to the support guys, hopefully
they'll be adding it to the support site soon.
btw, when I said we didn't really know how to work around it, I meant
from an evo source code point-of-view. I don't think we can really ask
every user to uncomment their /etc/hosts files :-(
actually, not even 100% sure that works in all cases yet anyway. but
from the few people who have gotten back to me, it does seem to work.
