I ran into this with trying to sort the tasks by multiple criteria. I
found a bug on bugzilla for it, so it is a known issue. You could add
your experience with the bug when sorting mail, because it's only for
tasks right now:

First, I'm using Mandrake 9.1 and Evolution 1.4.3.
I would like the have the mail in my inbox sorted first by date, and
then by status; that way, all unread mail will be at the top, but both
read and unread mail will be sorted within themselves by date.
Now, I assume the correct way to do this is to right-click on the
headers above the message listing, go to "Customize Current View," click
the "Sort" button, then pick "Date" in the first drop-down box and
"Status" in the second. However, if I click OK and apply the rules, it
seems to ignore all but the last rule; in fact, if I go back to that
box, it says the messages are only sorted by status.
I looked through a bit of the archives and didn't see anything that
seemed to be this problem, so am I the only person encountering it? Or
has nobody else tried this? I have tried it on two different computers,
and the results were the same on both.
Thanks,
