which processes are those? evolution-wombat and evoution-alarm-notify
should always be running.

Why should they be running all the time? I am using Evolution within the
"BlackBox" windows manager and I do not need any alarm notifications (my
Palm-based PDA takes care of that...).

then kill them :-) There is no way right now to disable the alarm
daemon, which is what keeps, in turn, wombat around.
