RH7.3
Evolution 1.0.3
===============
I used "wget -q -O - http://go.ximian.com |sh" to upgrade to the latest
version of Evolution and followed its instruction. When it came to
"selecting desktop" it offered no option but "Ximian desktop 2"
Kindly advise how to stop installing "Ximian desktop 2"
Well, I never used this script to install Evolution, so I don't know
about it.
However, there are other methods of installing / upgrading Evolution.
Aside from installing the necessary Evolution RPM packages manually, the
easiest way of installing Evolution and keeping your versions up to date
is using Red Carpet:
Get the following packages
ftp://ftp.ximian.com/pub/redcarpet/redhat-73-i386/rcd-1.4.4-0.ximian.4.1.i386.rpm
ftp://ftp.ximian.com/pub/redcarpet/redhat-73-i386/red-carpet-2.0.1-0.ximian.4.1.i386.rpm
and install them manually as root:
# rpm -ivh rcd-*.rpm red-carpet-*.rpm
When you have installed Red Carpet, you can any time start Red Carpet to
install / upgrade Ximian packages (and even keep RH up2date, AFAIK):
$ red-carpet
When running Red Carpet as user, you are prompted for the root password.
Subscribe to the Evolution channel and use the convenient, graphical
User Interface to upgrade Evolution. RC will resolve dependencies for
you. HTH. Have fun...
