I haven't a clue about the slowness issue.

As for the cut and paste issue, on all linux and unix systems I know of, the act of highlighting the text is enough to get it into the paste buffer.  Then you only have to middle button click in the target window to paste the text in.  If you only have a 2 button mouse, middle click is often emulated by pressing both buttons together.

Also, is there any way to copy text from a message I've received?  When I highlight text, ^C doesn't work and there's nothing under the Edit tab.
