I don't know how I did it exactly. As far as I can recall the sequence
of events were as follows:
0) Previously had gnome-1.4, evolution-1.2.0 compiled from source, AA
fonts through gdkxft 1.5.
1) Installed Dropline-gnome
2) Installed evolution-1.2.0 downloaded from the following location:
http://telia.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/dropline-gnome/evolution-1.2.0-i386-1.tgz
(I don't believe this is a gnome2 build)
3) Start evolution. As expected, no AA fonts.
4) Create /usr/bin/evo script as follows
=========
#!/bin/sh
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/local/lib/libgdkxft.so
export LD_PRELOAD
exec evolution
=========
5) Start /usr/bin/evo script. No AA fonts.
6) [here's where it got fuzzy] ...acidentally deleted ~/evolution...
reboot...
7) Start /usr/bin/evo script. Reconfigured account, because account was
deleted.
8) Voila, AA fonts.
