Worked for me: Copying ~/evolution/local/Contacts from one PC to
another.

Did you close Evolution and run killev before transferring?
Are both the same version of Evolution?

(Id didn't need oaf-slay and had contacts even in the Contact list I was
overwriting. No problems. Will try it in a few days in the other
direction, got a lot of contacts more. ;)
