[Evolution] can't open Inbox in Evol 1.2.1

Weird happening in my experience.

Evolution 1.2.1 on suSE 8.0.  Working fine last  night.

opened Evolution . . . cannot open the Inbox.  Message at bottom,
apparently a progress message i never noticed before says:  "Opening:
/home/meldav/evolution/local/ . . . mary . . . " and there it stopped.

highlighted is "contacts".  if I click to open inbox or any visible
subfolder, it bounces right back to "Contacts."

did << killev >>, restarted . . . no change.

<killev>> copied my backup.   same thing.

<<killev>> used Red-Carpet to re-install.  same behavior.

became root and removed the "Mary" subfolder and the "Mary Virtual
Folder."  <<killev>> as a JIC (just in case).  no change.

am writing from another machine now.

Anyone have a clue what I can do?
