[Evolution] LDAP with Auth

Hi people,
                still haven't got the ldap auth to work.  Evo v1.2.2  trying
Auth type distinguished name.  Built from source with option
--with-openldap=yes (ldap works ok in anonymous mode).

from addressbook-sources.xml

<authmethod>ldap/simple-binddn</authmethod>

so its set for DN type auth, and

<binddn>dc=DOMAIN,cn=username</binddn>

contains a DN

but my ldap bind-request packet doesn't contain a DN or a Password (both
fields are null, checked with ethereal).

Why is this so???
