Check your ~/.gnome/Gnome file. You need something like that:
[URL Handlers]
default-show=SOME-COMMAND-FOR-FIREBIRD

like: default-show=gnome-moz-remote --newwin "%s"
If there are http-show or similar entries, change them, too.
