thanks for the quick reply. Allow me to elaborate a little further on
my original statement: threading was working just fine prior to the move
from Red Hat 7.3 to Red Hat 9. I was working with Outlook people, and
never had any problems.
Evolution 1.0.x did threading by using the threading headers
(In-Reply-To: & References:), but if these were absent it fell back on
threading articles with the same subject header together.
Evolution 1.2.x removed that fall back.
This means that with Evolution 1.2.x posts from broken mail clients do
not thread correctly, even though they did thread correctly with
Evolution 1.0.x.
The reference I gave shows how to set a hidden configuration option to
reset the 1.2.x behaviour to that of 1.0.x
