[Evolution] RedHat 9 Calendar/Task Backend Crashes

On RedHat 9 I cannot add more than one calendar appointment without
inducing a task and calendar backend crash. Does anyone have any ideas
on how to fix this?
I've tried both release v 1.2.2 RPMS as well as the 1.2.3 RPM from
Rawhide and hand-compiled 1.2.4 with db3.
The behavior is the same for all.
