Thanks but that is how the PDA is configured. If I put the PDA within a
foot of my laptop, a it says it is waiting to receive a beam. Because
pilot-link works flawlessly, I suspect this is a gnome-pilot
issue--either it is sleeping, or the protocol isn't right.
Well, I dug around and luckily I saved my home directory from the laptop
before "retiring" it. Here's the config used for gpilotd for the IR
port.

type=2 (This is IrDA)
name=Infrared (unimportant)
device=/dev/ircomm0
speed=115200
timeout=60
This is my last hope of helping. Other than this, I'm out of ideas.
