I've tried manually starting gpilotd before, and after, I start the
PDA's sync. The PDA's connection times out, and pilotd doesn't do
anything. gpilotd says it's watching my ports (/dev/visor, /dev/ttyS0,
/dev/ircomm0). I also tried telling gnome-pilot that /dev/ircomm0 was a
serial connection, but that failed too.

of the docs. Go into your palm preferences->general and look for "Beam
Receive". Make sure that is "on" (it had worked with Win2k with it
off). Once that change was made, I had no problems.

Thanks but that is how the PDA is configured. If I put the PDA within a
foot of my laptop, a it says it is waiting to receive a beam. Because
pilot-link works flawlessly, I suspect this is a gnome-pilot
issue--either it is sleeping, or the protocol isn't right.
