Could you make the sort-method a choice in Mail-Setting or
View? I can see where it would slow things down if you have
5,000 emails, but not if you only have 300.

I just noticed because I was poking through old email trying to look for
a specific message, and while working my way forward through stuff from
the sender, suddenly jumped back two months, because the capitalization
of that person's email address changed in March.
'Some Guy <someguy Domain COM>' is considered a different sender than
'Some Guy <someguy domain com>' for sorting purposes. I can understand
Evo not considering 'Nickname Guy <someguy domain com>' or 'Some F. Guy
<someguy domain com>' the same, but is there any good reason for this to
be case sensitive?
If not, I'll file a bug on it
