In the 'Contacts' module, it seems to me that none of the 'Categories'
off the main Contact list are _globally_ available to 'expand' a typed
alias in an outgoing message header field. This seems awfully limiting,
and presently I have to manually click on the To; Cc: Bcc: buttons and
drop menus just in order to get to these email addresses -- and select
them one-by-one at that. Creating lists is just as 'click-consuming'.

What exactly do you mean? I dont follow. You mean when you compose a
message? What do categories have to do with it? Do you mean other
contact folders?

In Outlook, if setup correctly, will pull your typed names from all
address book folders. If I type Bob and Fred, and Bob is my Contacts
folder and Fred is in in my personal Contacts sub-folder it will pull
them both. In Evolution it would only pull Bob, Fred would not be found.

Also in Outlook if you choose Wilma and click CC, and then double-click
Fran it will CC Fran as well. Evolution will put Fran in the To: field.

Outlook has its problems and sometimes too many features but overall is
a nice to use program. 2002 seems VERY slow though, especially saving
PSTs over the network. Microsoft's fix to "Outlook slows computer while
downloading mail" is pretty much to "Wait for messages to be
downloaded".

Evolution seems to be getting there as a full-featured email client but
just lacks some of those few features that just some people use. I
understand it certainly can't replace every program completely.

Personally I miss the "keep on server", AND "delete after x days"
option. I AM pleased with Evolution so far and it has replaced Outlook
to a point. Now only if I could import my PST files and be done with
Outlook period.
