SOLVED: [Evolution] 20020603 Snapshot: Bonobo Config Database error

Hello!

Short version: I needed to update some Ximian packages. I did. It works.

I'm blind-copying evolution-hackers on the off-chance that someone
wishes to fix the dependency problem; it's probably not important enough
to merit the time, tho.

Hello!

With the install of today's snapshot, the fell "Cannot access
Bonobo/Config Database on wombat" error has returned. When I try to run
wombat on its own, I get:

purp milagro:~ [14:28] <65> wombat
wombat-Message: Starting wombat
wombat-pas-Message: Error registering the PAS factory: not listed
wombat-Message: main(): could not initialize Wombat service "PAS";
terminating

bonobo-moniker-xmldb runs with no error and no output.

I've searched the archives, bugzilla, and the web and tried the various
solutions suggested by all of these with no luck, so I've dropped back
to the 0516 snapshot (0528 was crashing on me constantly). I also
noticed that no one else has reported this yet.

I'm using RedHat 7.2 with only the necessary Ximian bits overlayed:

libxml-1.8.15-ximian.2
bonobo-conf-0.14-ximian.1
gtkmm-1.2.8-1.ximian.4
mozilla-psm-0.9.9-8.ximian.1
mozilla-0.9.9-8.ximian.1
gnome-mime-data-1.0.5-1.ximian.1
libgtkhtml20-1.0.3.99-snap.ximian.200205160601
libbonobo-conf0-0.14-ximian.1
oaf-0.6.7-ximian.2
mozilla-nss-0.9.9-8.ximian.1
libgal19-0.19.2-snap.ximian.200205160601
gtkhtml-1.0.3.99-snap.ximian.200205160601
ghex-1.2.1-ximian.1
pilot-link-0.9.5-ximian.2
gnome-pilot-0.1.63-ximian.2
red-carpet-1.3-1.ximian.4
gtkmm-devel-1.2.8-1.ximian.4
gnomemm-devel-1.2.2-1.ximian.1
mozilla-mail-0.9.9-8.ximian.1
gnome-vfs-1.0.5-1.ximian.1
bonobo-1.0.19-ximian.2
libgal18-0.18.1-ximian.1
galeon-1.2.0-1.ximian.2
gnomemm-1.2.2-1.ximian.1
mozilla-nspr-0.9.9-8.ximian.1
gal-0.19.2-snap.ximian.200205160601
evolution-1.0.5.99-snap.ximian.200205160601

As I got a bit more time this evening, I carefully selected the
following in red-carpet and updated them:

bonobo-1.0.20-1.ximian.7
bonobo-conf-0.15-1.ximian.1
galeon-1.2.0-9.ximian.1
gnome-pilot-0.1.65-1.ximian.1
libbonobo-conf0-0.15-1.ximian.1
libxml-1.8.17-1.ximian.1
mozilla-0.9.9-13.ximian.1
mozilla-mail-0.9.9-13.ximian.1
mozilla-nspr-0.9.9-13.ximian.1
mozilla-nss-0.9.9-13.ximian.1
mozilla-psm-0.9.9-13.ximian.1
oaf-0.6.10-1.ximian.1
red-carpet-1.3.2-1.ximian.1

This seems to have done the job. There's probably an unidentified
version-specific dependency somewhere in that crowd.

Cheers!

--j, back on the latest snap. =]
