And how do you pass the password to ssh?  Normally it opens your tty and
asks it directly doesn't it?

I think this is the most secure way to talk to imap server as it doesn't
require any other authentication than the ssh which I use to login to that
computer all the time anyway. And as an extra it doesn't even require any
imap daemon running when you're not using it.

So, any chance that anyone would be interested of coding that? :) I'd rather
keep updating evolution with apt-get than compiling it with my own
kludges. :)

It doesn't seem a particularly useful way to run imap for most people.
