Re: [Evolution] Re: Can't view .jpg

OK. I fixed it. I went into GCC (1.5.9) and went to Advanced->File Types
and Programs. I found the image/jpeg entry and changed the default
action from "Use Viewer" to "Open With Application". I restarted
evolution and it works. I tried to break it again by setting it back to
"Use Viewer", but it won't break. (?)

These long lists of mime types could really use a search engine!
Something like the search in redcarpet.

I don't think upgrading gdk-pixbuf would help, but maybe it would? I
dunno.

Hi,

I'm posting this again, since I haven't heard anything...

It doesn't detect. I can save the file to disk and it's definitely a
jpg. Nautilus and gmc both recognize the file as jpg. This has been
happening so much that I've added xv to the list of applications to use
for "unknown type" in the "File Types and Programs" in GCC so evo will
have it on it's list of available applications for "unknown type
attachment".

What do you suggest? Is there some other config in evo I need to look
at?

I don't think I noticed this until about version 1.0 of Evo, prior to
that I'd been using latest snapshots.

It should still detect it as an image/jpeg. If the Content-Type is
application/octet-stream or some unknown type, we (Evolution) feed it to
gnome-vfs's mime type sniffers which should detect image/jpeg. If it
doesn't, then maybe it's not really a jpeg file.

I get unknown attachment. Evo 1.0.1. The headers on the attachment are

------=_NextPart_000_0013_01C1A5E1.6A333510
Content-Type: application/octet-stream; name="NoMarkers.jpg"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="NoMarkers.jpg"

I've seen that it won't recognize a jpg unless the "Content-Type:" field
says it's a jpg which this one doesn't (it's application/octet-stream
not image/jpeg).

Here is the original message just simply forwarded. Using outlook
2002, and evo can't determine, what type it is.
