That's what I thought you meant. Yes, I'd very much like to see that
feature as well, which can be found in all major MUAs that I have used.
I think this processing should occur every time messages are
retrieved--that's how it works with Eudora (and Outlook and
Netscape/Mozilla too, I think) and it has always been fast and worked
well.
This doesn't need to be done with a filter, and doesn't need to have
anything to do with the "Sent" field in any message headers. Evo
already keeps a list of messages it has downloaded from (but left on)
the server, so "all" they need to do is add the date to the record for
each message in this list.
AFAICT, this list is already processed each time messages are retrieved,
so that any messages no longer on the server are removed from the "still
on server" list (otherwise this file would grow infinitely large!). So
a simple calculation should allow messages download N days ago to be
flagged for immediate deletion from the server.
I just filed a bug on this. Can't believe there isn't one already but
my most valiant efforts at searching failed to find it :) Go to bug
#9028 (http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=9028) if you wish to
add your own pleas or comments.
Cheers

I am referring to being able to delete the mail when I use this as a
POP
account. For instance I receive the mail, Evolution puts a date stamp
on it, (i.e. the Sent column)
Then when two weeks is up, I would like Evolution to delete the mail.
This could happen while the program is open or it could apply the filter
each time I login, as long as the filter is applied without me having to
manually invoke the filter. Do you see what I am trying to accomplish?
Thanks again for your help and let me know if you have any other ideas
