Hi James,

Make sure your pilotrate is set the same on both your pilot settings and
your palm.

Usually 57600 works, but believe it or not, when I got that same exact
error, Both my pilot settings and my palm were set to 57600, so I bumped
them both up to 115200 and viola...  it worked.

Go figure.

        On the command line try:
        
        killall gpilotd
        gpilotd
        
        and then sync.  See if there is any interesting debug information.

    I'm getting a "weird packet" message and then thing wig.  What causes
    the weird packet message in pilot-link?
