[Evolution] evolution-mail threading...

When evolution-mail is busy scanning IMAP folders, it does not let me do anything else, even read already donloaded POP or cached IMAP mail. Why not? Is the IMAP scanning thread locking everything else? This is quite annoying since at home, the IMAP connection can be quite slow.
