Yep, that seemed to be it. I'm not empty on space, but my drive acts
weird and says its empty when it has like 400 megs free. Anyways, when I
made room it worked, even though you wouldn't think expunging messages
would require more room. =)
Expunge has to rewrite the mbox file and thus you need enough hd space
to be able to write a second copy of the mailbox (minus whatever you
deleted of course).
