Anything between 0 and 10,000, depending on the folder.

One rule for each folder.
Nothing more complex than "if sender is... then move to..."

I'm using all the folders almost all the time. It doesn't make any
difference.
I can tell you, the slowness occured progressively, as the folders were
filled up with messages.
I only use maildir as the directory format.

Tomorrow i'll upgrade to 0.11 and see what happens then.
