I suggest you read the POP3 RFC a bit better, DELE doesn't delete the
message, but marks it for deletion, it isn't deleted until the Server
enters the Update state i.e when the QUIT command is passed. If
evolution were to crash the QUIT command wouldn't be sent and the
messages would just stay there until the next time you connected to the
server.
