  Beacuase it'd mean running around through *all* your folders looking for
nerw mail - when that's the purpose of your inbox.

  If you reply from your inbox then delete it (having already filed a
clone of the message), you'll lose the 'replied-to' tag, and any
sent-items references, won't you?

  Seems like the easiest implementation would be to have a 'manual' tag
for message filters (alongside 'active'?), such that you can choose to
apply all 'manual' filters to a selection of mails as-and-when you choose
(with a slightly more convoluted run-specific-filter menu option).
