Aha. So I really should get off my lazy butt & delete the ~600 unread
messages that I'm never going to read (appends in our bug system at
work, and I really only read those on the web)

It loads the bodies of all messages in INBOX currently marked "unread",
under the assumption that you'll want to read them when you're offline.
