[Evolution] Evolution's Speed in General

I run an AMD K6-2 300 with 96 MB of RAM. Not the most optimal of
configurations, nevertheless reasonable for most applications I use.

Question is, why is there such a significant wait time for the compose
window to appear? And even worse, why does it take so long for messages
(especially HTML messages with graphics) to display even in the preview
window? Is this something that can be fixed?
