Re: [Evolution] expunge is very slow for me

If that's the behavior you want, perhaps you should be using the "Hide
Deleted Messages" option? ;-)

Hmmm, maybe this is a good candidate for some lazy programming.

Couldn't the expunge operation just hide messages from the folder views
and wait to rewrite the mbox until we have closed down evolution?

I only have 600 messages in my folders and it is painful to watch the
expunge process tick along.

The expunge operation isn't affected by the numbr of messages as much as
it is affected by the size of the mailbox you are expunging.

in order to expunge an mbox file, you must write all the messages that
are not to be deleted into a new mbox file and then move the new mbox
file over the old mbox file.

I'm surprised that you are able to hit expunge after every deletion.

Does anyone else watch the paint dry after hitting expunge?

The status bar goes on about synchronizing folders, but this takes
somewhere on the order of 8-12 seconds no matter how many messages are
being expunged.
