Actually, we now have support for POP-before-SMTP authentication, so
it's no longer even an issue.

mail servers don't allow you to send mail with their mail server unless
you've checked mail from it first (recently)
So in my case, I have to check email from the mail server first and then
use it to send out mail. However, if I fire up evolution, and directly
compose a message, it won't work.
