If focus is going to the popup, you need to upgrade your gtk+. (There
is a nasty bug concerning how focus is handled, which I was unable to
work around despite my best efforts. :/ )
Ximian's gtk+ 1.2.10 package is known to work properly. Some other gtk+
1.2.10 packages (like Mandrake's IIRC) have been reported to not work.
