[Evolution] Putting contacts into categories?

I noticed that one can put Evo contacts into categories, but it's not
obvious at all how to use the categories (perhaps it doesn't work yet?)

If categories does work, how do I use it to divide up contacts and for
easier group mailings (choosing the category rather than individual
addresses to mail to).
