Ok, I just got around to trying this again (I tried a while back but
gave up)
I'm running 0.4.1 I have a .newsrc-news.erols.com file
and I have added news.erols.com into the dialog in evolution.
However when I start evolution I get this error:
Error while 'Scanning folders in "news://news.erols.com"':
Could not open directory fornews server: No such file or directory.
So what's it looking for?
The index files for the news groups you subscribe to are created under
the directory ~/evolution/news/<newsserver>. The
<newsserver> subdirectory will be created by evolution as you add new
news servers, but the ~/evolution/news directory needs to be there (it's
created as part of the default user profile, but it's not created later
on by evolution.)
If that directory isn't there, or for some reason the evolution/news
directory isn't writable by evolution, you'll get the above error
message.
