Evolution does not currently display images in html messages if they
have http URLs. It does display images with cid URLs (like in the
welcome message)
The fact that it doesn't display http images even when the image is
attached to the message is a bug. The reason that it hasn't been fixed
is that the RFC that specifies Content-Location was written to make it
easy for web browsers to send mail, not for mail readers to display
it. I need to redo the URL-handling code a bit. Actually, I wrote a
bunch of the code a long time ago, I just never finished.
In the future, you will be able to set the http image handling to load
images by default if you want, or you'll be able to click or select
something to make it load the images on demand if you don't load them
by default.
