Re: [Evolution] [OT] evolution smtp handling

I was kinda hoping for some debug lines previous to the ones you sent, there
should be at least 2 lines previous to the ones you sent me.

Unfortunately what you sent doesn't tell me a whole lot except:

1. Evolution is not detecting that the smtp server has AUTH (this may or
may not be true, can't tell from the info you pasted)

2. It looks as though at least the MAIL command was completed successfully
which would also suggest that it isn't AUTH (or at least I think so - I'm
not too familiar with the AUTH extension and I don't have the RFC in front
of me)

In any event, I need to have more information if I am to solve this
problem.

Odds are it will not be fixed anytime soon anyway because I am now deeply
involved in hacking up an IMAP provider and extensions to SMTP are low on
the list of things that need to be done at the moment.

However, I will save the debug info you send me so that I may more easily
fix the problem as soon as I get the chance.

This currently cannot be done.

I'm not even sure which extension to SMTP that this is. Is it the AUTH
extension to SMTP? Or some other extension?

There are 2 things you could do to help me out:

1. Run Evolution from a terminal window and attempt to send an email
with
it. This should write a bunch of debug statements to the screen, if you
could send those to me it would be great.

2. Find out which extension to SMTP that digitalme uses. My guess is
AUTH,
which is not yet supported but is in the TODO list (low priority at the
moment until I finish coding IMAP).

I hope the message below will suffice. I know it works with Netscape
just fine.

received: 250 digitalme.com Pleased to meet you

camel-smtp-transport::connect(): provider does not use AUTH

sending : MAIL FROM: <trever_Adams bigfoot com>
received: 250 Sender OK
sending : RCPT TO: <nightbox hotmail com>
