Re: [Evolution] Finally I got some of Evolution runnig

Finally after a month of updating everything Evolution depens on allmost
everyday I could compile most of it (I still can´t compile libversit) and couls
see the mail component in action.

Good!

I have a couple of things to report.

It takes 2 or 3 times more than xfmail to show a message of about 1,3 MB (yes,
I have one like that, I even have some of 20MB :-( ).

Is that the first time only, or every time? The first time it generates
a full index and writes out a new copy with headers intact, so that
most other operations following are much faster. The second
time startup should be much much faster.

But the code i'm working on right now will allow me to delay indexing
till later (read: from a thread), and delay the writing of updated
headers until an expunge, which will probably speed it up 2x or so,
that first time; it wont affect later starts.

The gui currently also has some performance issues, which are even
worse ... (I think we need to give the main gui coder a P100
instead of an athlon 700 :)

The side bar doesn´t work. If you click in the arrow icons in the side bar
nothing happens, you have to drag the square in the midle to see all the
messages. I may look at that myself if I find some time, doesn´t look too hard
to fix.

I'll also add there needs to be a way to navigate at least the message
list with the keyboard ...

The Evolution main window is far bigger than my scren, I use 800x600, it does
suppose to be that way?

Well most of the developers have >1280x1024 screens, and so forth -
this all still needs tuning.

By the way I made the es.po. May I commit it to cvs with my account or should I
send it to somebody first ?

I'm not sure on this, anyone else?
