[HC Evolution] My introduction

Hi everyone,

Some of my background.

First, I'm not a programmer. Sorry 'bout that. But, don't let that
influence your first impressions. Second, I come from the Mac world and
have successfully migrated to Linux. Third, I'm a suit (now I see those
eyes wide open ;-) ). But, I'm on the Board here in Denver to put
together the first Linux Conference and Expo here in the Rocky Mountain
region as well as a Board member of the local LUG. Fourth, I've written
an article about migration to Linux from Mac and Windows which will be
posted on Corel's Linux site sometime next week, it's from a business
perspective (please don't hold that against me either). So why am I on
this list?

First, to learn more about the under workings of GNOME and the
foundation which it sits on. Second, Eazel is happening (see the Mac
connection) and the comments about Helixcode are down the right path as
far as I'm concerned. Third, I've been in computer business sales for a
while, so I know customers and what they look for in the way of helping
them get their jobs done. Fourth, I'm associated with a start up which
is using Linux as it's foundation for serving, 10Mb Internet WIRELESS
access, and large data storage. Lastly, maybe to help "translate" what
you're doing into business needs or "translate" business needs into
something that might help you understand why they want it, agreeably,
sometimes they don't know (and this is a BIG maybe).

Understand that I won't talk much because I'm not a programmer, so don't
worry. One last thing, a friend of mine here in Denver is a true kernel
hacker and has been with Linux since pre .9 days as well as a friend of
his who works at Sun doing networking kernel hacking.

Anyway, I'll keep out of your way and just watch the traffic. If anyone
has questions for me, fire away.
