Since I don't have a PalmPilot, I installed Gnome w/o pilot-link, or
gnome-pilot. When I try to build, I get an error that libpisock
cannot be found.


The configure script should only try to find libpisock if it finds the
gnome-pilot package. You're sure you don't have it installed? What
does the configure output say in the lines before the error? What does
"gnome-config --modversion gpilot" say?
