I think this should be discussed at d-d-l/release-team than lowering it
to Evolution/any-other-project. We currently follow GNOME cycle, as you
know. Unless we hit to a serious issue, you will be always be the
waiting for a release, where as developers would waiting for a more
better time to do it. 

We sort of do stable releases for upto 4 months (after the .0 release)
or so, where as the newest version arrives in approx two months after
that. What we currently discussing are those 2 months, where the stable
branchs doesn't have a release, unless there is a security/vulnerability
issue.

It has both pros and cons. But, I would say, notify bugs, so that
distro's can pick at their choice. Giving a window of a release, can
probably break at times. Just my thought.
