Probably at this stage, reading the files directly would be easiest.
Remember 1.5/2.0 does/will store folders in different locations.
Locking isn't really that important if you're only reading the data.
We want to get a plugin architecture for evolution(-mail) at some point,
but that will be based on C and with mono bindings as an option (but
this could be way off).
