[Evolution-hackers] Linking Evo shell with an additional library.

Good day,

I'd like to link the Evolution (1.2.2) shell with another static library 
located in, say, shell/test/. In order to do this, I modified Makefile.am in 
shell/ and added "test" to SUBDIRS. I also added "test/test.a" to 
evolution_LDADD. I ran make clean, automake, configure, and make but the 
library still hasn't been linked into the evolution binary. Am I using the 
right approach? Is there anything I've missed? Any hints, clues, etc. as to 
why I'm unsuccessful? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
